Virginia Workshop, April 25 - 27, 2008
Late April in Virginia means mares & foals, flowering dogwood and redbud trees and lush green pastures dotted with buttercups and dandelions. This is one of the most beautiful times of year! The scenery and flowers are fabulous. We will have opportunities to shoot horses, nature and farm scenes.

This workshop will be taking place in beautiful locations in and around the Warrenton, The Plains and Upperville area of Fauquier County. Our host farms have been selected to provide you the best learning environment.

What Will We Cover
Emphasis in the workshop will cover creative control of camera settings, depth of field, composition, lens choice as well as varied lighting conditions.

Specific topics covered, conditions permitting, will include:
  • Colorful sunset silhouettes
  • Magical watercolor pond reflections
  • Black shadow backgrounds
  • Effective compositions
  • Controlling DOF to make your subject pop
  • Creative control of your camera settings
  • Razor sharp action photos
  • Artistic use of motion, panning, twirling and zooming
  • How to shoot mist, steam, fog, etc
  • Choosing the right lens
  • Capture killer skies
  • Controlling and using lens flares creatively
Schedule
We will be on location before sunrise each day. We'll break at midday for several hours and head back out no later than 3:00 and shoot until sunset. Each day's locations will be planned in advance, but since we cannot control the weather, the schedule may be subject to change. Workshops will go on rain or shine.
  • Friday Afternoon: 2:00 till after sunset
  • Saturday: Before sunrise till after sunset with a midday break
  • Sunday: Before sunrise till 10:00 am. Farewell lunch and photo sharing session
  • Sunday Afternoon Extension: Fun shoot for those who want to stay longer. Cost additional $50.
Who Should Attend
Our workshops are open to photographers of all skill levels, amateur through professional. The workshop is geared toward advanced beginner to intermediate photographers but even working pros will find creative inspiration and renewal. Our focus is on providing a enjoyable learning environment.

Cost
The cost is $395.00 and includes snacks and drinks on the shoots. Meals, lodging and transportation are not included. We will be staying at the at the Comfort Inn in Warrenton, Virginia. The room rate is $109/night.

What You Will Need
A DSLR is a requirement and to take full advantage of what we are going to teach you will want to have lenses covering 28mm to 200mm. If you don't have the gear, renting is very affordable. A laptop with some image editing software like Photoshop, Breezebrowser, Nikon View or Canon Zoombrowser is recommended to download and view your photos.

Travel
The nearest airport is Washington Dulles (IAD). Another choice is Reagan National (DCA) which is in the city of Washington DC so avoid rush hour arrival times. About 90 minutes away is Baltimore Washington (BWI) but that can also be a very difficult drive during rush hour.

Cancellations & Refunds
You may cancel up to 30 days in advance and receive a refund less $100 cancellation fee. Within 30 days of the workshop there are no refunds unless we can fill your space.

If the workshop is cancelled by us, you may apply your workshop fee to another workshop or request a refund. We are not responsible for any additional costs you may incur due to any delays or cancellations. Trip insurance is strongly recommended.

Signed liability release is required for participation. Commercial use of photos taken at this workshop is not permitted.
